Dr. Pieternel Luning: Associate Professor Wageningen University
Pieternel is associate professor in Food Quality Management at the Food Quality & Design group at Wageningen University. She developed an interdisciplinary MSc and research program in the Food Quality Management domain based on a techno-managerial approach. She supervises on average 25 MSc thesis and internship students (yearly) and 10 PhD’s. Their research covers a broad range of topics in the field of food quality management, including performance of food safety management systems, food safety culture, risk-based auditing, food integrity, food safety She has been (and still is) involved in multiple (inter)national projects. All research project are inter (multidisciplinary) and involve technological and people and/or managerial/organisational, and/or governmental/societal aspects. She is member of SALUS, which is an international scientific workgroup on Food Safety Culture. She developed, on behalf of SSAFE, a fraud vulnerability tool for the food industry with her colleagues in food fraud. From 2016-2018, she was member of the Technical Working Group of GFSI on Food Safety Culture, who drafted the document on FS-culture for the food industry. She is author of the books on ‘Food Quality Management; technological and managerial principles.
