How the BRCGS Professional Programme works

The BRCGS Professional programme includes training across three core areas: BRCGS Standards, Hazard & Risk Management and Product Safety Management.

Courses are led by our BRGCS-Approved Principle Training Partner and hosted virtually, so you can train from anywhere. Depending on your chosen courses, you can complete the programme in around 7–11 days in total, learning throughout 2026.

Already completed some of the required courses? They may count toward your qualification.

BRCGS Standards Courses

You must complete and pass ONE of the following courses relevant to a BRCGS Global Standard:

  • Sites training
  • Lead Auditor Course
  • Auditor conversion course
  • Sites Conversion Course
Hazard and Risk Management

PLUS ONE of the following courses:

  • RSPH Level 3 Award in understanding how to develop a HACCP plan
  • Level 4 Award in Managing the HACCP System
  • If you already have a 2 day recognised HACCP course, you may not need to complete the above.
Product Safety Management

PLUS THREE of the following courses:

  • Risk assessment
  • Root cause analysis
  • Validation and verification
  • Internal auditor
  • An approach to Food Safety Culture
  • Vulnerability Assessment for Food Fraud

    Who can become a BRCGS Professional?

    Anyone working at a BRCGS-certified site (or supporting one) can enrol. If you’re unsure whether your site is certified, you can find out on the BRCGS Directory or get in touch and we’ll help you confirm.


    How does the BRCGS Professional package builder work?

    The BRCGS package builder lets you choose the specific courses you need to complete the BRCGS Professional programme. You can mix and match modules based on your goals and role — and save £1,000 compared to booking them individually.


    How long does it take to complete the programme?

    Most learners complete the full BRCGS Professional programme within 8–11 days of training, depending on course selection. There’s no strict time limit, so you can complete it at your own pace. We recommend completing it within 12 months.


    Can I do the courses online?

    Yes — all BRCGS Professional courses are tutor-led and run virtually, so you can choose the format that works best for you or your team.


    What if I’ve already completed some of the required courses?

    If you’ve already passed any of the approved BRCGS courses, they may count toward your BRCGS Professional qualification. Just provide evidence of completion and we’ll help you map your progress.


    What happens after I complete all the courses?

    Once you’ve completed and passed all required modules, you’ll receive your BRCGS Professional certificate and badge, and be added to the official list of BRCGS Professionals worldwide.


    Can I buy courses individually instead of in a package?

    Yes — but booking individually is more expensive. When you build a package, you’ll save £1,000 compared to the total price of single courses.


    Do I need to take the courses in a specific order?

    No — you can take them in any order that suits your schedule and experience. We’re happy to recommend a logical sequence if you’re not sure where to start.


    Will I get support during the programme?

    Yes. All courses are tutor-led by our BRCGS Approved Principle Training Partner, John Husband. You’ll have direct support from John throughout your learning journey.
